LASIK is Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis. It’s actually a type of refractive laser eye surgery for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

Though an effective way, LASIK Eye Surgery may have Complications due to preoperative, intraoperative, early postoperative, or late postoperative sources, These may include:

Corneal Ectasia
Induced dry eyes
Light sensitivity
Overcorrection
Undercorrection
Fluctuation in Visual acuity
Double vision
Wrinkled flap
Decentered ablation
Growth under flap
Buttonhole flap
Induced astigmatism
Epithelium erosion
Floaters
Macular hole

According to researches, the patients having unresolved complications six months after surgery is estimated to be 3%to 6%. Further the risk of visual side effects, i.e. halos, double vision, loss of contrast sensitivity, and glare etc after LASIK Eye Surgery depends on the degree of ametropia before the laser eye surgery. Besides that, the individual risk potential of a patient also matters a lot as there’s no average probability for all patients in case of LASIK.
