The modern age is an age of technology. The influence of technology can be seen in every walk of life. Technology has provided us with many wonders. Now-a-days in all civilized parts of the world people live and move even think in terms of technology and its gift to mankind. Technology is a broad concept that deals with a species usage and knowledge of tools and crafts, and how it affects a species ability to control and adapt to its environment.

Technology is a term with origins in the Greek “technologia”. Technology can refer to material object of use. To humanity, such as machines, hardware or utensils, but can also encompass broader themes, including systems, methods of organization, and techniques. People’s use of technology began with the conversion of natural resources into simple tools. History demonstrates that when new inventions are introduced into society, the society changes. Technology has affected society and it’s surrounding in a number of ways. In many societies, technology has developed more advanced economies and has allowed the rise of Leisure class.

The 20th century has seen extraordinary advancements in the world of technologies. Modern society has even discoveries inventions in medicine, science, transportation, engineering, and communication of unparalleled magnitude and proportions. If our ancestors happen to visit the modern world they will not be able to recognize it, because modern technology has totally changed our society. The world today has completely changed. The contribution of technology is seen in our daily life. It has increased the happiness and comforts of human beings greatly. Technology is considered blessing to our society.

Technology has given us the facility that we can talk with our relatives and friends thousands miles away from us with the help of modern devices like telephone and wireless telegraphy. Through radio broadcasts messages can be conveyed to all parts of the world. On the television, we cannot only hear the voices but can also see what is being telecast. Medical technology has also helped mankind to fight against dangerous disease. Much disease, which was incurable in the past, can be cured now.

But from the above discussion this is only one side of the pictured. If in certain respects it has proved a blessing it has also acted as a curse in certain fields. It has produced highly destructive weapons like atom bombs and hydrogen bombs, which destroy the world in no time. In fact there is no wrong with modern technology. It is up to the man to decide whether he wants to use for peaceful purposes or for destructive purposes.
