Number of People Getting Mortgages Rise By 15%

The regular sum of money being borrowed has continued to go down. First time buyers in the second quarter of the year borrowed an average of 206,000.
The amount of people buying to let has continued to fall, and is the only category not to record an increase in the period covered.
The quarterly announcement also shows that first time buyers now make up a quarter of the market.
Statistics from the Irish Banking Federation published today have publicized that over 12,000 home mortgage loan were drawn down, which represents a rise of 15%. Nevertheless, that figure is still down more than 60% compared with the same time last year.
